On this new release, Cristiano Contadin plays the solo part and the first bass part in Corrette’s later Le Phenix for four generic basses on viola da gamba. Contadin has the technical ability to make even the hard passages sound easy, and his phrasing and pacing make this a very enjoyable recording.
